We were extremely excited to have been invited by the Vet Techs to join them in viewing the presentation given by McCrory's pharmacy. We learned so much about extemporaneous compounding and all of the new ways that their pharmacy is trying to create medications to fit each individual patient (including their animal patients). We learned about gels they can use which are liquid while cold but solid at room temp or body temp. They use these gels to compound different medications for animals including antibiotics for the ears. Using the gel instead of drops helps to prevent dogs from shaking the medication out because it solidifies after application.
